In Order to determine high yield sesame lines, 23 genotypes including pure lines obtained from segregating populations and three check genotypes (totally 26 genotypes), were evaluated in three regions: Karaj, moghan and Mashhad. The experiments were carried out in a complete randomized block design with three replications over all the locations. Important agronomic characteristics such as date of flowering, type of branching , number of capsule per axils , number of capsules per plant , number of seed capsule, plant height, capsule length, stem diameter,1000 seed weight and date of maturity were recorded.
Analysis of variance was carried out in three regions: Karaj , moghan and Mashhad for a plenty of characteristics such as: seed yield ,oil yield, capsule, plant height, and growth period duration.
According to the mean comparisons in each location, lines with the highest seed yield were identified as following:
Karaj: lines number 21, 2, 1, 19 and 3 produced seed yield by 1773, 1621, 1612, 1508 and 1488 kg/ha, respectively. General control (Oltan variety) appeared to produce 1163 kg/ha.
- Moghan lines number 12, 14, 22, 2 and 3 produced seed yield by 1359, 1279, 1242, 1215 and 1206 kg/ha, respectively. General control (Oltan variety) appeared to produce 1155 kg/ha.
- Mashhad: lines number 4, 3, 20, 21 and 12 produced seed yield by 1453, 1423, 1332, 1265 and 1260 kg/ha, respectively. General control (Oltan variety) appeared to produce 1117 kg/ha.
- The lines with highest seed yield was selected from superior genotypes in all locations.
