Land suitability studies provide users with basic information for optimal and sustainable management of agricultural lands. The main purpose of this research is to evaluate the land suitability of selected olive orchards in the country in order to know the climatic, soil and land limitations and achieve the optimal and sustainable production of this crop. At present, the lack of sufficient understanding of the effect of climate, soil and landscape characteristics has caused poor management and lack of proper utilization of land. Each crop has different land suitability and production potential according to different climatic conditions and different characteristics of land. Therefore, any use of land for its specific use should be according to its suitability and real production potential. In the present research, which was carried out as a national project to assess the suitability of land for selected olive orchards in the integrated management plan of soil fertility and plant nutrition at the country level, in the provinces of Guilan, Golestan, Mazandaran, Qazvin, Zanjan, Kermanshah, Fars, Khuzestan, Yazd, Markazi, Isfahan, Ilam and Tehran, phenology, climate and soil data from soil profiles in olive orchards were used. The parametric method was used as the usual method of land suitability assessment to determine the suitability of the studied orchards. Based on the obtained results, in most of the provinces, the most important limiting factor of the climate is the absolute minimum temperature factor. In some provinces, the topography; slope factor and some soil characteristics such as salinity, heavy soil texture and lime have caused limitations. The results can be used by planners and users in planning.
