Due to drought tolerance, high quality, preservation of roots, suitable sugar level, good leaf fodder properties, high nutritional value and high yield compared to other fodder plants, fodder beet is considered a desirable food source for livestock. Fodder beet cultivation in the country was based on the use of local seeds. During the experiment, some areas were visited by the members of the variety introduction committee, and finally, based on the results, the best varieties in comparison with the control varieties were introduced. This project was carried out in the form of randomized complete block design with four replications. The experimental treatment consisted of twelve cultivars: two cultivars as controls including Kara (Iranian control) and Kyros (foreign control) and eight foreign cultivars plus two Iranian cultivars. In the first year, there were tested in two regions of Karaj and Shahroud and in the second year in five regions of Karaj, Mashhad, Moghan, Kermanshah and Shahroud. The results of two years comparing the performance of new fodder beet monogerm hybrids with domestic and foreign control cultivars indicated the stability and superiority of hybrid 1025 compared to the only domestic fodder beet variety, Kara. Therefore, it seems that this hybrid can be introduced as the first domestic fodder beet monogerm hybrid variety. Also, among the foreign cultivars, it seems that varieties FO-2, FO-3, FO-4 and FO-9 performed well regarding the root dry matter, stability and resistance to rhizomania.
