This article presents a monitoring report on the cropping pattern for the 1402-03 crop years in Golestan province. It evaluates three key indicators area, production, and yield highlighting an increase in realization compared to the first year of the plan’s implementation. Out of the targeted 680,336 hectares, approximately 636,686 hectares were realized, representing 94% of the goal. From a total production target of 3,526,304 tons, about 2,979,610 tons were achieved, which is 84% of the target. The expected yield was 13,240 kilograms per hectare, while the actual yield reached 13,692 kilograms per hectare, exceeding expectations at 108%. The higher yield can be attributed to several factors, including favorable climatic conditions this year, particularly for dryland farming, as well as improved primary inputs for key crops compared to the previous year. Additionally, numerous educational and extension programs have been implemented, and there has been timely intervention to manage damaging factors effectively. However, it is important to note that fertilizer usage this year did not differ significantly from last year. In the previous year, some critical crops such as cotton, soybeans, potatoes, tomatoes, rice, and fodder corn did not receive any fertilizer which impacted their performance. Moreover, there has been a notable decrease in greenhouse development, with realization dropping to 50% this year from 100% last year. The insufficient supply of required fertilizers has also contributed to challenges in achieving the cultivation pattern plan. Regarding water and energy consumption key goals in modifying the cropping pattern there is currently no specific mechanism or plan in place for monitoring and controlling these resources. Overall, the realization rate for the cropping pattern plan in the 1402-03 crop years was 78%, reflecting a 3% increase compared to the first year of implementation.
