Enternal Evaluation is one of the key tools in quality management and the continuous improvement of systems, organizations, and educational and research programs. This type of evaluation is carried out with the active participation of members within the system (such as faculty members, staff, and managers) and based on internal criteria and standards. The objectives of this evaluation include: identifying potential capacities, recognizing strengths and weaknesses, developing and improving the quality of activities, self-regulation of affairs, institutionalizing the culture of evaluation among faculty and staff, encouraging colleagues to participate in decision-making and planning processes, deciding on the continuation, termination, or modification of programs, gaining awareness of the degree of achievement of goals and programs and feedback on their implementation, assisting managers in making informed decisions, determining the efficiency and effectiveness of programs and activities, and preparing for external evaluations. For the implementation of the accreditation and internal evaluation project of the Agricultural Biotechnology Research Institute in 2024 in the Iranian calendar), and considering the experience of the previous year, the presence of relevant committees and groups, and the clarification of evaluation duties, the internal evaluation was conducted more thoroughly in the institute. Given the nature of the activities, six working groups were defined, and their titles were considered as internal evaluation factors. Each working group recruited members from among the faculty and headquarters experts based on their experience and expertise. In expert meetings, the general and specific objectives for each group were first developed. Then, in order to collect the necessary data and information for completing the evaluation tables, various methods such as questionnaires, existing archival information at the institute, and any other relevant resources were used. After gathering the data, analysis and interpretation of results were carried out. The review of the six factors regarding the status of the Agricultural Biotechnology Research Institute indicates that the four-year strategic operational policies and programs have been established with the aim of increasing focus and effectiveness. In this regard, the research and technology factor showed relatively favorable conditions, with faculty members’ project workload per capita being very satisfactory, and other indicators were relatively favorable. Regarding the planning and support factor, the institute showed relatively good growth in most indicators compared to the previous year (2023), with about 61% of indicators in favorable condition. For the human resources factor, research staff performance in terms of projects and publications was favorable. In relation to extension (outreach), in-service training for staff (specialized and general workshops and courses) as well as the promotion of agricultural knowledge and productivity were in good condition. The results showed that the indicators of "Inter-organizational communications and cooperation" with 72.6% satisfaction, "Technology and equipment" with 68.08% satisfaction, "Scientific research and development" with 57.67% satisfaction, "Organizational management and leadership" with 47.64% satisfaction, "Work environment and organizational interactions" with 64.47% satisfaction, "Human resources and professional development" with 47.64% satisfaction, "Administrative processes and support" with 47.64% satisfaction, and the index of "Welfare facilities and organizational support" with 36.63% satisfaction enjoy relatively favorable conditions among the research institute personnel. Also, the average satisfaction in most indicators is about 63%. In this regard, it is suggested that in order to improve labor productivity and development and improve satisfaction, more attention should be paid by the management to factors such as welfare and organizational interactions in the workplace.
